Tour Talk with PROTOCONCEPT

The LPGA Tour begins its season with the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club. This event marks the start of an exciting series of competitions, featuring top female golfers from around the world. The tournament not only showcases exceptional talent but also sets the tone for the upcoming season on the LPGA Tour and I’m happy to report that I attended this special event.

The field comprises 32 of the top players from last year on the LPGA Tour. I expect some low scores from these athletes week, as the weather has been excellent, with mostly sunny skies, temperatures in the low 70s, and minimal wind. If it stays that way all week, it will be perfect golf weather for these professionals to play in. Unlike last week when I was at the PGA Show in Orlando and the weather was horrific. Mid to low 40’s (yes 40’s) and rained for all three days. Awful!!

I’m sure glad the powers to be moved this event the week after the show instead of the week of the show, great decision!

Not a lot of equipment changes this week, but I was able to show off our new RR chrome wedges to a few players. Lydia Ko likes the look and feel as well as the way the wedges interacted with the turf on different types of shots.

As I expected, all the player comments were very positive. My hats off to the ProtoConcept design team for making such a beautiful and superior performing wedge.

A little fun side note: I got to meet one of my sports heroes, linebacker for the Chicago Bears, Brian Urlacher. What a privilege to meet and get a photo op with this sports legend.
