Tour Report with PROTOCONCEPT - VOL.45

The Glen Club is a little more than an hour east of my home and is the location of this week’s Korn Ferry Evans Scholars Invitational.

In addition to hosting this event, The Glen Club is the home of the Illinois Golf Hall of Fame. There are numerous displays and plaques commemorating important people in golf that are from or lived in Illinois.

This Tom Fazio designed course is recognized as one of golfs Top 100 Golf Courses and brings “old school” golf to the young men on this tour.

The modern equipment and high skill level of these players usually combine for low scores at this event.

The 17th tournament on the 25-event schedule, players are feeling the pressure of needing to play well these last few events before the final 4 tournaments leading up to the Tour Championship.

That pressure was evident on Monday as more players then normal were out early practicing on the range. On Tuesday, the range never slowed down as players continued to work on all aspects of their game.

With the weather being unseasonably cool for July in the Midwest, it is perfect golfing weather, upper 70’s to low 80’s. Who could ask for more?

With the help of Dan McCarthy and a few other players, my time was spent player testing a future iron concept in development.

Player feedback is an important part of our product development and I am always appreciative of the time and input players give me when I ask them to test a product for me.

What looks good on paper doesn’t always perform as expected, which is why player input is an important part of the process.

I will continue to get more feedback in the coming weeks as time and opportunity allows.
