Bishamon Kikko: From Battlefield to Fairway

Bishamon kikko

Introducing a new golf bag that combines Japan's winning tradition with modern luxury.

A new interpretation of a symbol of triumph — refined by PROTOCONCEPT GOLF and brought to life in collaboration with VESSEL.

PROTOCONCEPT GOLF, the Japanese performance-driven golf brand, reimagines Bishamon Kikko — a motif historically associated with victory and protection — through a modern lens of precision and restraint.

That vision now merges with VESSEL, the American luxury golf bag brand known for elevated design and tour-caliber performance.

The result is not decoration. It is intention made visible.

The Origin of Strength

The Bishamon Kikko motif traces back to Bishamonten, a guardian figure long revered in Japan as a deity of victory and discipline.

Historically, the figure most famously devoted to Bishamonthen was a powerful 16th-century warlord who ruled what is now Niigata Prefecture during Japan's Sengoku era. His unwavering faith in the deity became synonymouse with resolve and triumph.

It is no coincidence that PROTOCONCEPT GOLF's forged irons are produced under the supervision of master craftsmen in Niigata — a region long respected ion Japan for its precision metalwork.

From the same land once associated with disciplined strength, modern instruments of performance are now created.

The connection is not ornamental. It is geographical. It is historical. It is deliberate.

Reinterpreted for the Modern Arena

The Bishamon Kikko pattern, once carried onto battlefields, has never before been formally introduced into the game of golf.

This edition represents its first intentional reinterpretation for the fairway.

Not as a loud statement — but as a quiet signal of resolve.

Commissioned exclusively through VESSEL, this limited golf bag integrates American luxury craftsmanship with centuries of Japanese cultural depth.

The battlefield has evolved. The pursuit of excellence has not.

Bishamon Kikko

An ancient Japanese pattern bringing martial fortune and blessings.

The Kōbaku Bishamonten at Kyōō Gokukuji Temple( Tōji), said to have served as guardian of Heian-kyō. Its chain mail armor features a continuous pattern of three-layered tortoise shells, giving rise to the name "Bishamon Tortoise Shell."

Bishamopnten is one of the Four Heavenly Kings protecting Buddhism. Its origins trace back to Prince Shotoku praying to Bishamonten for victory in battle. By the time the warrior classe rose to prominence, it gained devotion as the guardian deity of the military.

Notably the famous warlords who ruled over what is now Niigata were known for their deep devotion to Bishamonten. Furthermore, as one of the Seven Gold of Fortune brining luck and wealth, people have imbued their wishes into him, using his image in pottery patterns and kimono designs from ancient times to the present day.
